How Custom Fabrication Supports a Plumbing Supplier’s Complex Valve Box Builds

Every plumbing project is a little different—but for one of our long-time trade customers, that’s exactly the norm.

This plumbing supply company builds custom stainless steel valve boxes that get installed into walls across commercial and residential sites Australia-wide. Each job has its own specs, layouts, and configurations—so they needed a fabrication partner who could handle more than just laser cutting.

What We Make for Them

We help bring their boxes to life through multiple stages of fabrication, including:

1. Laser Cutting

Every component is laser cut from stainless steel for strength and clean presentation.

2. CNC Folding

We fold the sides and structural sections to form the body of the box and internal plates.

3. Stud Pressing

Rather than using external bolts, we press in welded studs—so the customer can bolt brackets in from the inside with no visible fixings. The result? A cleaner, more professional finish.

4. Spot Welding

We assemble and spot weld the main body of the box to hold everything securely together.

Two Lid Styles—Each Built Differently

The boxes are designed to accept one of two lid types depending on the install:

  • Flush Lids
These sit flat within the wall and include a folded backing plate. These are laser cut and folded only—no welding required.

  • Framed Doors
These sit within a tapered frame, which involves additional cutting, folding, welding, and polishing. These are perfect for projects where a hinged door is preferred.

Stainless Steel, Plus a Touch of Gal

Most parts are made from stainless steel, which we stock and special order as needed to ensure a clean, undamaged surface.

  • We leave protective film on during cutting where possible to avoid scratches.

  • We can also etch part numbers or labels when required.

  • Occasionally, internal brackets are made from galvanised steel for added strength or cost-effectiveness.

How It All Comes Together

Once all components are fabricated, the customer:

  • Collects the parts from our workshop

  • Assembles their plumbing valves inside the boxes

  • Ships them to job sites around Australia—ready to install

We’re proud to be a part of their workflow and help streamline an otherwise complex manufacturing process.
